Your Hosts Captain Jon and Maggie

The lighthouse is a very unique place to stay. There are places where you will need to use much caution. There are lots of stairs as the lighthouse is 53' high. We are sorry but as of now the lighthouse is not handicap accessible, but the Captain has Parkinson's and we have 15 grandchildren and none of them have any difficulty with any of our features. Also, the shower in the T S Fowler room is small but we have had 200 lb men who have not had a problem with it. Please remember to bring deck shoes (tennis shoes) as the mist off the water sometimes makes walkways slippery. We think that you will immensely enjoy your stay!

The Barn'acle room can be accessed from the drive so if you have a problem with stairs this would be the room for you.

Contact us for any special needs or requests that you may have.

Crane Hill,  Al.  35053

Directions to the lighthouse

from Birmingham:

Take I65 north to exit 305

Turn left off the exit onto County Road 222

Stay on 222   (you will go through 2 four way stops)

You will pass a Church of the Nazarine, then maybe a quarter of a mile past you will come to County Road 852 (Totem Pole Road because of all the signs on the tree) turn left (it only goes left)

Follow this very winding road until the yellow line ends. Turn right at the next road (County Road 870 and it only goes right you will pass a little volunteer fire station, just stay on this road.

You will come to a 3 way stop sign, go straight through (after stop of course) folow this road and you will go down a steep hill and the road will curve very sharply to the right ( there will be a road straight ahead that goes up a hill but do not go up that road,  follow the curve to the right) go to the top of the hill and at the top you will see County Road 881 turn left (it only goes left) we are about 2 tenths of a mile on the left.
